Richard Shaw Memorial Gala

It was an emotional evening for all the Marlins swimmers, Coaches, Teachers and Committee at the George Campbell leisure centre on Saturday 22nd October, where March Marlins hosted the Richard Shaw Memorial Gala. A plaque in Richards honour was unveiled by Richards mum Terri Shaw and Guest Ed Williams.  Ed is to be the GB team Paralympic Swim Coach for 2012.  Marlins put out a large squad for the night to show their support in honour of Richard, and the team also included many members of Richards Family.  Local teams and Officials from Cambridgeshire also showed their support for the event , with many team Coaches and Managers also swimming.  The Gala will now be held annually at March.  Every swimmer gained a medal on the night.

NINE first places and 15 personal bests helped March Marlins’ swimming stars claim third place in the Junior Fenland League Final.

Nine-year-old Jack Tremain led the way for March, bagging four personal bests as well as three victories in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 25m butterfly. Marc Johnson, competing in his final JFL event, bowed out in style with one first place and two second place finishes. Katie McGowen won both the 12-year-old and 13-year-old 50m freestyle races as well as taking second place in 50m butterfly and first place in 100m individual medley. Chloe Richardson and Jake Hoy were in fine form to claim victories in their age categories, while Gemma McGowen secured three second places. Luke Cable, Kahra Cottam and Jacob Halls took second places with Amelia Wallis recording two personal bests.

Amber Freshwater, Siobhan Halliday, Nat Cook, Graham Shaw and Alfie McIntyre also put in strong swims to leave March third in the standings with a toal of 122 points.

Senior Fenland League Final at March

17th September 2011
For the 3rd time this year the home of March Marlins, George Campbell Leisure Centre, hosted another Fenland League Gala. This time it was the Senior B Final.
Marlins swimmers put a good performance coming away with 16 PBs and a host of 1st, 2nds and 3rd places on the night.
James Vardon won in 100m IM with a 2sec PB, 3rd in 100m breaststroke with a 4sec PB and also 8sec PB in 100m backstroke
Siobhan Halliday came 1st in 50m backstroke with a 1sec PB also 2nd in 50m breaststroke with a 1sec PB.
Luke Cable came 1st in 100m IM with a 1sec PB, 2nd in 50m butterfly with a 1sec PB also 3rd in 50m freestyle.
Marc Johnson achieved a 10sec PB in 100m freestyle also 3rd in 100m backstroke and 100m fly.
Lucy Halls claimed 2nd place in 100m IM with a 1sec PB and also 3rd in 100m freestyle with a 1sec PB.
Katie McGowen came 2nd in 50m freestyle, 2nd in 100m IM and also 3rd in breaststroke with a 1sec PB.
Ben Wright 6sec PB in 100m IM and 1sec in 100m freestyle.
Nat Cook came 3rd in 50m backstroke with a 2sec PB and also 3rd in 100m freestyle.
Kahra Cottam achieved 3rd place in 50m back and a 1sec in 100m freestyle.
Gemma McGowen 2nd in 50m freestyle and 3rd in 50m butterfly.
Graham Shaw came 2nd in 50m backstroke with a 2sec PB.
Adam Lifshack 2nd place in 100m breaststroke.
Chloe Richardson 3rd in 50m breaststroke.
Jacob Halls 2nd in 50m breaststroke.
Hannah Lifshack 3rd in 100m IM.
Jack Tremain came 3rd in 50m butterfly.
Other Marlins swimmers on the night were Jess Cable, Lara Palmer, Jake Hoy, Alfie McIntyre, Richard Peterson.
Chatteris won on the night, Ely 2nd, Bottisham 3rd and March only 3 points behind in 4th with 140 points.

Junior Fenland League round three

Magnificent Marlins show true team spirit.
March Marlins took part in the Junior Fenland League 5th rd at Peterborough on Saturday.
The team rallied together so well that every member of the squad managed at least one personal best on the evening. Between them they managed 24 PBs, 7 x 1st, 12 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd places.
Gemma McGowen was top girl on the night winning all her 3 races and getting a PB in her backstroke. Top boy belonged to Marc Johnson with a 1st and 3 x 2nd, and also managing a PB in every race.
Katie McGowen achieved a 1st and 2 x 2nd, with 2 PBs and showed a majestic start on her butterfly and backstroke. Jack Tremain won his backstroke and freestyle with a PB. Kahra Cottam won her freestyle with a PB and came second in butterfly also with a PB. Jacob Halls gained 2 PBs in the individual medley and breaststroke where he came in second. Luke Cable claimed 3 x 2nd places in breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle which he gained a PB. Chloe Richardson also gained a PB in the individual medley and freestyle.
Nat Cook came second with a PB in backstroke. Jake Hoy claimed second in breaststroke also with a PB. Graham Shaw gained a 5 second PB in butterfly. Chloe Seal knocked 8 seconds off her butterly time. Joely Cottam knocked a whopping 10 seconds off her breaststroke PB. Lara Palmer managed a PB in both her breaststroke and freestyle races. Amelia Wallis set a new time in her freestyle. Rylee Cole set a new time in breaststroke.

Open Water Swimming

March Marlins gained medals galore at ASA East Region Open Water at Whitlingham Lake near Norwich on Sunday.
All our swimmers swam the 800m event.
Katie McGowen got gold for the Cambs girls 11-12 years, Marc Johnson got silver for the Cambs boys 13-14 boys and Emily Morris got bronze for Cambs girls 15-16. Not forgetting Kahra Cottam who started off well but the very cold water was too much, but she'll be back next year.

Junior Fenland League 3rd Round at Kings Lynn

March Marlins swimmers competed in the 3rd round of the JFL on Saturday at Kings Lynn. Marlins came away with a total of 15 personal bests.

 Jake Hoy and Libby Band competed in their first Gala. Jake achieved 2 PBs in 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke. Libby gained a PB in 50m freestyle. Amelia Wallis claimed a 42 second PB in 50m breaststroke. Alfie McIntyre also came away with 2 PBs in 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly. Luke Cable won the 50m butterfly with a PB and also 1st place and a PB in 50m breaststroke. Chloe Richardson also had a great evening getting 2nd place in 50m backstroke with a PB and also 2nd in 50m breaststroke. Marc Johnson PB’d in 50m backstroke and he also came 2nd in 50m butterfly.

Sisters Katie and Gemma McGowen also gained PBs, Katie in the 100m IM and Gemma in 50m back and getting 2nd in 50m freestyle. Siobhan Halliday gained 2nd place in 50m breaststroke. Other Marlins swimmers were sisters Kahra and Joely Cottam, Megan Fitzsimons, Jessie Traer-Goffe, Charlie Revell and Graham Shaw.

Fenland Open Meet May 2011

On Sunday 29th May 2011, Marlins also competed in the Fenland Open Meet held at Whittlesey, this being a joint meeting put together with March, Wisbech and Chatteris.  Again the Marlins achieved fantastic swims and gained 30 new Personal bests out of 54 swims with a team of 16 swimmers.
Adam Lifshack again led the way forward, winning an impressive 2nd Place in the 100m Backstroke with a new Personal Best and 3rd in the 100M Butterfly again with another new Personal Best.  James Vardon gained a new 7 Second Personal Best in the 100M Freestyle with brother Sam Vardon following with a 2 second Personal best.  Other Personal Bests were swam by Graham Shaw in the 50M Backstroke and Jack Tremain in the 50M Breast Stroke.  Narrowly missing their best times were Jacob Halls and Luke Cable.
Sisters Katie and Gemma McGowen swam fantastically, gaining a personal best in every race they competed in, Gemmas races consisted of 50M Freestyle, 50M Butterfly, 50M Backstroke and 50M Breast Stroke, whilst Katies races were the 100M Freestyle, 100M Butterfly, 100M Backstroke and 100M Breast Stroke, with Katie gaining a 34 second Personal Best in the 100M Breast Stroke.  Siobhan Halliday was again concentrating on the swim and gained three new Personal Bests out of four swims in the 50M Freestyle, 50M Butterfly and 50M Backstroke.   Lucy Halls and Jess Cable continued on from the last weekends’ brilliant swims with Lucy Halls gaining three new Personal Bests in the 100m Freestyle, 100M Breast Stroke and 100M Backstroke.  Jess Cable followed in form with impressive Personal bests in the 100M Freestyle, 100M Breast Stroke, 100M Butterfly and 100M Backstroke.  Other Personal Bests were gained by Kahra Cottam in the 50M Backstroke, Sydney Davis in the 100M Freestyle and 100M Backstroke, Chloe Seal in the 100M Breast Stroke with a 14 second Personal best in the 100M Freestyle, and Emily Morris in the 100M Back Stroke.

West Norfolk Open Meet Results - May 2011

March Marlins Swimming Club took part in two Open Meets over the last two weekends with Adam Lifshack leading the way forward with the team gaining First places and personal bests galore. Competing at West Norfolk Open Meet at Kings Lynn on Sunday 22nd May 2011 the seven strong team gained 19 Personal bests out of 33 swims. 
First Place went to Adam Lifshack in the 100 IM and 50M Breast Stroke, then competing for the first time, Jack Tremain gained an impressive Second place in the 50M Freestyle with a new Personal Best and a Third in the 50M Backstroke, again with a Personal Best.  Adam gained a Third in the 50M Freestyle and the 50M Butterfly gaining another Personal Best, a fourth in the 50M Backstroke and a new Personal Best in the 25m freestyle. Joining in the brilliant swims, Jacob Halls then secured a fourth in the 50M Breast Stroke and two new Personal Bests in the 100IM and the 25M Freestyle.
West Norfolk
Personal Bests were on the mind of Siobhan Halliday for the day, gaining 5 Personal Bests out of 6 swims, 50M Breast Stroke, 50M Back Stroke, 100M IM, 50M Freestyle and 50M Butterfly, Chloe Richardson was following closely with 4Personal Bests out of 5 swims, 50M Breast Stroke, 50M Back Stoke, 100IM and 25M Freestyle, Lucy Halls gained 2 Personal Bests, 50M Breast Stroke and 25M Freestyle and Jess Cable swam a new PB in the 25M Freestyle.  Jess Cable went on to win 5th place in the 50M Backstroke plus the 50M Breast stroke and a sixth in the 50M Freestyle.  Lucy Halls won fifth place in the 50M Freestyle, plus the 100M IM and sixth in the 50M Breast Stroke. Chloe Richardson also gained an impressive fifth in the 50M Breast Stroke.

March Marlins swimmers completed in the 2nd round of the JFL at Peterborough against some big teams. However this did not stop some outstanding personal achievements which resulted in 20 Personal Bests for our swimmers.

Chloe Seal managed new PBs in 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and also Freestyle. Kahra Cottam PB’d in 100m Individual Medley and 50m Butterfly. Jack Tremain in 50m Freestyle and 25m Butterfly. William Gowler in 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. Amy Kenning in 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly. Morgan Gow in 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke. Amelia Wallis PB’d in 50m Freestyle, Luke Cable in 100m IM, Luke Green in 50m Breaststroke. Katie McGowen in 100m IM, and her sister, Gemma, PB’d in 50m Backstroke. Thomas Cave in 50m Freestyle and Amber Freshwater in 50m Backstroke.

JFL First Round Saturday 5th February 2011

March Marlins swimmers started the year off with a fantastic swim on Saturday 5th February 2011 in the Junior Fenland League first round, hosted at the George Campbell Swimming Pool. With a total of 17 personal bests

Mark Johnson grabbed 4 personal bests out of the 17 achieved on the evening by the Marlins squad, taking a 5 second in the Individual Medley, 4 second in the 50m Butterfly, 2 second in the 50m Backstroke and a 1 second in the 50m Freestyle. Gemma McGowan gained a 3.5 second in the 50m Backstroke and 1 second in the 25m Butterfly and Jessie TraeGoffe took a 4 second in the 50m Backstroke and a 2 second in the 50m Butterfly, other pb's were achieved by Katie Mcgowan, Jemma Toombs Jake Hoy, Amy Wilson, Jack Tremain, Robert Conyard, Jacob Halls, and Alfie Macintyre.
First places went to Mark Johnson in the 4 x Ind Medley, Jacob Halls 50m Breast Stroke, Luke Cable 50m Butterfly 11 Years and Robert Conyard in the 50m Freestyle.  2nd Places went to Mark Johnson 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, Luke Cable 50m Breast Stroke, Jack Tremain 50m Breast Stoke aged 9 and 50m Breast Stroke aged 10, Sam Vardon 50m Breast Stroke and Gemma McGowan 25m Butterfly.  3rd Places went to Alfie McIntyre 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke, Jessie Trae-Goffe 50m Breast Stroke, Sam Vardon 50m Backstroke, Sam Green 50m Freestyle, Jacob Halls 50m Breast Stroke, and Luke Cable in 50m Butterfly aged 12.  Other swimmers on the night included Charlie Revell, Jake Hoy, Siobhan Halliday, Rebecca Fitzsimons, Amber Freshwater, Amy Kenning, Kahra Cottam and Amy Wilson.JFLJFL Girls

Marlins at Sheffield Ponds Forge

Adam Lifshack was the sole  March Marlins took part in the Lincoln Vulcan’s long course open meet at Ponds Forge Sheffield  this weekend competing against 55 clubs from all over the United Kingdom.
Adam Lifshack competed in 100 M and 200M Breaststroke, and 50M Freestyle.
Adam came home 4th in his age grope in 200 M Breaststroke, and set a new personal best and joint 6th in 100M Breaststroke reducing his personal bet time by 3 seconds. Adam also set a new personal best in 50M Freestyle.

Junior Fenland League 'C' Final Hosted by March

March Marlins fought back after a decade and Won Back the C Final Title on Saturday 16th October hosted by March at the George Campbell Pool.  The Marlins, who have been training hard since the summer and pulled this victory out of the bag.  James Vardon scored a hat-trick out of the 26 new personal bests achieved on the evening, James managed a 8 second pbest in the 4x25m IMedley, a 2 second in the 50m backstroke and a 3 second in the 50m butterfly.  Not to be outdone, Lucy Halls swam a brilliant 10 second pbest in the 4x25m IMedley and a 5 second personal best in the 50m butterfly, Sydney Davies swam a 9 second personal best in the 50m freestyle followed by another pb in the 50m breastroke.  Jemma Tombs swam a 7 second pbest in the 50m backstroke and Richard Shaw claimed a 4 second pbest in the 50m breastroke and another PB in the 50m freestyle.  Other Personal bests were swam by Megan Fitzsimons, 5 seconds in the 4x25m Imedley and 2 seconds in the 50m backstroke, Marc Johnson swam a 2 second Pbest in the 50m freestyle, Gemma McGowan swam a 2 second pbest in the 50m freestyle and her sister Katie gained a 3 second Pbest in the 50m butterfly, Kahra Cottam, Siobhan Halliday, Sam Green, Amy Kenning and Sam Vardon,  also swam personal bests on the evening.

Fenland Flyers at the National Arean League in Corby
Fenland Flyers swoop in to gain a second place to the National Arena League

The Fenland Flyers joined the National Arena League this year, starting with their first swim at Corby on Saturday 9th October 2010 .  The Flyers are a team associated to the ASA and consist of swimmers from March Marlins, Chatteris Kingfishers and Wisbech Swimming Club.  The National Arena League is held all over the UK, the final being held at Sheffield Ponds Forge with the Flyers in the East Midland Division. The teams competing in this round consisted of Newmarket, Corby, Newport Pagnell and the Lincoln Vulcans B with the Flyers team managers ensuring they put a good team out.
Jo Pearce lead the way from the start gaining an impressive 2nd place in the Ladies 100m Open IM, Mark Thorpe keeping this pace coming 1st in the Mens 100m Open IM.  Kirsty Slyfield ensured the relays gained momentum with all the swimmers upping their aim and gaining victory with 1st and 2nd places.  Hannah Brown and Luke Cable came 1st in their own 50m backstroke races, Daniel Dale gained 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke plus the 100m Butterfly.  Gary Mavin flew in 1st in the 100m Butterfly finishing with a 6 second win over the rest, Gary Smith following with a 1st in his Open  100m Backstroke with a 5 second win.  1st Places were also won by Jo Pearce in the 100m Breastroke, Liam Oliver in the 100m freestyle, Gary smith in the 100m Breastroke, Mark Thompson in the 100m Freestyle plus many more relays.
Individual 2nd places were won by Kathleen Loveridge in the Ladies 100m Butterfly plus the 100m Freestyle, Luke Oliver in the 100m Butterfly, Luke Cable in the 50m Breastroke and Adam Lifshack in the 100m Breastroke.  Relay swimmers and other Individual swimmers were Alice Dennis, Katie McGowan, Chloe Richardson, Emily Morris, Marc Johnson, Charlie Revell, lucy Halls, Cree Howlett, James Vardon, Kirsty Slyfield, Ivo Nooteboom, Cara Fresher, Esther Loveridge,  & Tom Kelly

March Marlins at the Fenland Open Meet

March Marlins Co hosted and took part in the Fenland Open Meet  this weekend taking 13 swimmers with some fantastic swims bringing home 12 trophies in total and 20 new personal bests and 1 top Boy. Adam Lifshack (13yrs) fought hard in the first session to win first place in 100 M breaststroke, and 100M Freestyle (New PB), in the second session of the day he was piped into second place for 100M Butterfly (New PB) and 100M Backstroke, he was crowned overall top 13 year boy. Luke Cable (10 yrs) swam to fourth place in 50 M breaststroke and new personal bests in 50M Backstroke and 50 M Freestyle. Emily Morris (14 yrs) swam to fifth place in 100M Butterfly and sixth place in 100M Freestyle ( New PB) and 100M Backstroke, she also set new personal bests in 100M Breaststroke. Siobhan Halliday(9yrs) swam to sixth place in 50 M Butterfly ( New PB) and set a new personal best in 50 M Backstroke. New personal bests for Kiahra Cottam in 50M Butterfly, and 50M Breaststroke Jess Cable  100 M Backstroke and 100 M Freestyle, Richard Shaw 100 M Freestyle, Sam Vardon 50M Freestyle.

March Marlins at the West Norfolk Open Meet  

March Marlins took part in the West Norfolk Open Meet at Kings Lynn this weekend taking 12 swimmers with some fantastic swims bringing home 15 medals in total and 28 new personal bests. Adam Lifshack (13yrs) snatched first place in 50M breaststroke, and 100M Individual Medley, second place for 50M Butterfly (New PB) and 50M freestyle and fourth place in 50 M backstroke (New PB). Luke Cable (10 yrs) swam to second place in 100 M Individual Medley (New PB), third in 50M breaststroke and fourth place in 50 M backstroke. March Marlins at the Cambridgeshire County Championship

Counties2010March Marlins took part in the Cambridgeshire County Championships over the last 2  weekends taking 5 swimmers but winning 7 medals in total. The first weekend action involved Luke Cable winning gold in 100M Backstroke and bronze in 200 Backstroke and getting to the final in 50 freestyle and 50M backstroke and coming in sixth and fifth respectively. Luke also took part in 100M IM and made the final and came in fourth. Luke gained new personal best times in all swims. Adam Lifshack made the final of 50M freestyle and was piped into silver by 11 hundredths of a second, and he also made the 100M freestyle and 100M IM finals coming  sixth in both events, 800M freestyle he got bronze and sixth place in 200M freestyle. Adam gained new personal best times in all swims. Sam Vardon took part in 50 M freestyle and just missed out on the finals.Emily Morris took part in 50M butterfly making the final and came in fifth with a new  personal best time.
This weekend Adam Lifshack took part in 200M breaststroke coming home in silver position and making the finals for the 50 M and 100M Breaststroke and coming home in silver position in both events with new personal bests. Luke Cable made the 50 breaststroke final and came home fourth with new personal best. Emily Morris took part in 50M backstroke setting a new personal best .Marlins had 3 relay teams in the final session of the counties, with all swimmers succeeding in competing and setting new personal best times, see photo.

JFL B Final for Marlins

March Marlins jointly hosted the Junior Fenland League B Final on Saturday 17th October along with Huntingdon Swimming Club at March.  The marlins have worked fantastically hard this year with exceptional swimming from all the team and lots of personal bests achieved.  This hard work and enthusiasm helped them reach the B Final for the first time in 10 years and on the night 15 Personal Bests were gained. Brothers James and Sam Vardon gained 5 personal bests between them during the evening, Sam with a 6 second pb in the 50m backstroke not to be beat by James gaining a 4 second pb in the 100m IM.  Zoe Johnson claimed a 7 second pb in the 50m backstroke plus another pb in the 100m IM.  Other pb’s were reached by Megan Fitzsimons (2), Lucy Halls (2), Kara Cottam (1), Chanti Odd (1), Aaron Keil (1) and Jamie Wilson (1). 1st Places went to Jacob Halls and Sam Vardon (2), 2nd Places - Jacob Halls, Marc Johnson and Jess Cable and 3rd places – Zoe Johnson, Kara Cottam and Sam Vardon.

Winning Weekend with Another First Place for March Marlins

March Marlins had a fantastic weekend of outstanding swims starting with the Norwich and Peterborough Gala on Saturday 10th October racing against Huntingdon and St Neots and concluding with a Open Meet at Downham Market on Sunday. At the Gala the Marlins team worked together and swam their hardest, breaking 21 personal bests to win with a final score of March 110 points (14 1st Places), Huntingdon 110 points (12 first places) and St Neots 106 points.

Marc Johnson gained three personal best times which included a brilliant 10, 2 and 3 second pb, along with Sarah Watson gaining a 7 and 6 second pb. Other superb pb’s gained were Megan Fitzsimons (2) including a 4 second pb, Amy Kenning (2), Zoe Johnson (2), Richard Petersen (3), Emily Morris (1), Aaron Keil (2), Adam Lifshak (1).

The Marlins won a brilliant 14 first places, Amy Etherington (1), Richard Petersen (2), Sam Murphy (1), Emily Morris (1), Sarah Watson (1), Marc Johnson(2), Hannah Lifshak (1) and Adam Lifshak 91). Second places went to Megan Fitzsimons (1) Jacob Halls (1), Luke Cable (1), Jess Cable (1), Aaron Keil (2), Sarah Watson (1), Jess Trea-Goffee (1), Hannah Lifshak (1) and Richard Petersen (1). Third places went to Aaron Keil, Zoe Johnson, Jess Trea-Goffe, Luke Cable, Jacob Halls, Kara Cottam, Megan Fitzsimons, Amy Kenning, Marc Johnson and Jess Cable.

West Norfolk Open Meet

Five March Marlins swimmers took part in the west Norfolk open meet, all performed well obtaining between them 14 top 3 places and 9 personnel bests. Luke Cable continued the trend with a 2nd in 50 metres Breast stroke, 100 metres Individual Medley (p.b) and.25 metres Front crawl . He also gained 3rds in 50 metres Butterfly and 50 metres Front crawl. Adam Lifshack also in the medals with some very close swims gaining a personnel best in 50 metres Butterfly , 50 metres Front Crawl, and 100 metres Individual Medley, 1st in 50 metres Breast Stroke, a 2nd in 25 metres Front crawl and a 3rd in 50 metres Back Crawl, Jessica Cable was on form gaining Personnel Bests in 50 metres Front crawl, 25 metres Front Crawl, and 50 metres Back Crawl.

March Marlins at Bishop Stortford Open meet Sept 27th

Five March Marlins competed in the Bishop Stortford competing against swimmers from all over Essex and as far a field as Germany. March swam well gaining eight personnel bests and 6 top six places.
Luke Cable had an impressive day gaining a 3rd in 200mtrd freestyle with a new personnel best, a 4th in 50mtrs free, a 5th in 200mtrs Individual Medley , a 6th in 50mtrs Butterfly ,also gaining a personnel best in 100mtrs Individual Medley.
Adam Lifshack was in the medals gaining a 5th in 100mtrs breaststroke, and a 5th in 50 breaststroke with a new personnel best..
Jessica Cable is our final swimmer who had excellent swims gaining new personnel bests in 50mtrs backstroke.

March Marlins at the ICENI  Open Meet19th September 2009

March Marlins took part in the ICENI open meet at Dereham this weekend taking Jess Cable, Emily Morris, Luke Cable, Richard Petersen, Kahra Cottam and Adam Lifshack. They swam in a total of 31 individual events and with outstanding effort brought home 7 medals in total and 12 new personal bests were set on the day.The boys were the most successful Marlins, Adam Lifshack winning ICENI GOLD in 100 M breaststroke and Luke Cable winning ICENI SILVER in 50M Breaststroke. Adam also came in sixth in 200 M Individual Medley, fourth in 100M Backstroke and fourth in 100M Freestyle. Luke Cable was also placed sixth in 50M Butterfly and sixth place in 50M Backstroke.Leading the personal best rush was Jess Cable setting new times for every race she swam starting with 100M Breaststroke, 100M Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley, and 100M Freestyle. Luke Cable set a new personal best in 100M Individual Medley, Richard Petersen set new personal bests in 200M Individual medley, 100M Breaststroke and 100 M Backstroke. Adam Lifshack set new personal best in 100 Butterfly and Kahra Cottam in 100M Individual Medley.
Swimming well on the day and gaining times very close to her personal best was Emily Morris.

March Marlins at Cambridge Open Meet 19th July.

 

March Marlins took six swimmers to the Cambridge open meet on the 19th July,
Chanti Odd first ever open meet went off well gaining herself two new personnel bests in 100 metres freestyle and 50 metres breaststroke.
Chloe Richardson was the youngest 9yr old who gained a new personnel best in 50 breast stroke.
Luke Cable also 9 went against strong competition gaining a 6th in 200 Front Crawl ,5th in 50metre breast stroke, and a 5th in 200 Individual Medley (P.b),
Jess Cable not to be out done had a brilliant day with a personnel bests in 200 metres freestyle,50metres back crawl,50 metres butterfly,200 metres Individual Medley,also gaining a 6th place in50 metres breast stroke.
Adam Lifshack had some good swims  gaining a new personnel best in 50metre breast stroke and a 4th place, also a 4th place  in 100 metres breast stroke .
Well done to all swimmers who took part.

March Marlins – winners in the Junior Fenland League match at Ely.

MARCH Marlins swam superbly to achieve first place in the fourth round of the Junior Fenland League, beating strong competition.

In all Marlins had twelve race winners and many other placings as well as 18 personal best times.
Race winners were Jacob Halls (2), Luke Cable (4), Aaron Keil, Sam Vardon (2), Jess Cable and Richard Shaw.
Final places: March 155 points, Ely 152, Wisbech 150, Boston ‘B’ 80, Chatteris 67.
2nd places: Aaron Keil (2), James Vardon (3), Chloe Richardson (2), Chanti Odd, Sam Vardon.
3rd places: Jake Wallington, Kahra Cottam (3), James Vardon, Lucy Halls (2), Aaron Keil (2), Katie McGowen, Chanti Odd and the relay team of Sam Vardon, Chloe Richardson, Luke Cable, Katie McGowen, Richard Shaw, Jess Cable, James Vardon and Lucy Halls.
There were some outstanding personal best times with Kahra Cottam beating her 50m Breaststroke by 27.11 seconds and also pbs in 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Also with new pbs were Jess Cable 100m IM and 50m Breaststroke; Jake Wallington 50m Freestyle; Katie McGowen 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke; Chanti Odd 50m Freestyle and 100m IM; Sam Vardon 50m Freestyle; Jacob Halls 50m Breaststroke; Chloe Richardson 50m Freestyle; Lucy Halls 50m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle;Richard Shaw 50m Freestyle.
